Michael Cawelti, the award winning Fight Director and Founder/Maestro of the
Albion Schoole of Defense, is offering an Introductory Class in Historical Stage Combat. This class is offered
twice each year in the Winter and Summer at the Albion Schoole in El Cerrito, CA.
The Albion Schoole is the oldest historical stage combat school in the country. Since 1980, Michael has taught thousands of actors and re-enactors the art of safe and exciting swordplay. His work has been seen at over 70 theater companies, including: ACT, Berkeley Repertory, Oregon Shakespeare, SF Opera, The Old Globe, Denver Center and Theater on the Square. His students work constantly in theaters and at historical festivals around the country. Albion swordsmen and women were recently featured in The Three Musketeers, which received rave reviews at both the 2009 and 2010 Dicken's Christmas Fair. The beginning class is a three month session focused on rapier and dagger play along with the principles and applications of safe, yet realistic sword work. There are no prerequisites, but any sword training will be helpful to the new student. Weapons can be provided. Classes are kept affordable, and are held Tuesday nights in El Cerrito, CA. The new Introductory class begins July 5th, 2011, but new students are welcome to join at any time. For more information contact Michael directly at captglvr@gmail.com.
